April 2019 – Time to Write at The Old Sawmills near Fowey

9-14 April 2019

Sawmills motorlaunchOur Spring 2019 retreat brings us back to The Old Sawmills near Fowey, a stunningly beautiful and tranquil venue, situated on its own private creek. The topic for the week is ‘Time to Write’ and our focus on this retreat is providing the time and space to write far away from the distractions and demands of everyday life, while enjoying the company of other writers.

The conservatory tableShort, stimulating morning workshops will get your creative juices flowing and you can sign up for as many as four one to one sessions with the resident tutors; an opportunity to get feedback on your work, brainstorm ideas, unravel a tricky plot point or discuss your writing challenges and aspirations.

All our activities are optional and if you wish to simply bury yourself in your project, relax, read or go for long walks with your notebook, you are welcome to do just that. You can come up for air and enjoy good company and delicious home cooked food at meal times.

Our visiting author midweek is prize-winning short story writer and novelist Tom Vowler. Tom will join us for dinner on the Thursday evening and provide insight into his own writing journey. On Friday morning, Tom will run a practical workshop on an aspect of writing craft.

There are only six places on this retreat, and you can book your place here. Please read our terms and conditions here.

Also, please note that this is an unusual venue, with access being either by boat (tide- dependent), or on foot (via a twenty minute walk through the woods). It therefore requires a reasonable level of mobility and won’t be suitable for everyone. Please contact us to discuss this further if you feel that access might be an issue for you.
