17-22 November 2019
For our autumn retreat, we will be returning to Rosemerryn near Lamorna Cove, the inspirational house set in an ancient woodland, and the venue where we held our very first retreat in November 2014.
Our popular Craft of Writing weeks are designed to develop skills in using point of view, creating effective settings, writing strong dialogue, and using ‘show and tell’. You will end the week buzzing with new ideas and skills to take away.
Morning workshops will focus on a different aspect of the craft each day, and you can book an hour long slot with each of the two resident tutors during the week. In these one-to-one sessions, you can receive feedback on your work, brainstorm ideas, unravel a tricky plot point or discuss your writing challenges and aspirations; it’s entirely up to you.
All of our activities are optional and if you wish to simply bury yourself in your project, relax, read or go for long walks with your notebook, you are welcome to do just that. You can come up for air and enjoy good company and delicious home cooked food at meal times.
We are delighted to announce that Jen Alexander, the ‘free-range writer’, will be our guest author for this retreat, her third visit to Rosemerryn. Jen will join us for dinner on the Tuesday evening, and provide insight into her own writing journey. On Wednesday morning, Jen will run a workshop on writing dialogue, the dos, don’ts and why nots.
