Rosemerryn in early spring is the perfect time for this five-night retreat from 5-10 March focusing on the craft of short fiction: your opportunity to learn the essential ingredients of writing short stories including idea and theme, and how to develop your story. During the week we will work with short structures from 1,000-3,000 words and even shorter flash fiction.
Midweek we will be joined by short story specialist Tom Vowler, Tom will lead our workshop on Thursday morning and give us insight into his own approach to writing award-winning short stories. HIs first collection, The Method, won the Scott Prize and the Edge Hill Readers’ Prize, and his second collection of stories, Dazzling the Gods, is published in January 2018. We are delighted to welcome Tom back to Rosemerryn.
By the end of the retreat week you will have a complete story in draft and plenty of tips to help you develop and hone your skills as a writer of short fiction for competitions, magazines and collections.
