Looking Forward
Our Stay Home Autumn Sundays offer three half-day themed sessions that take place using Zoom. If you haven’t used Zoom before, just download it here and have a practice with a friend beforehand. It’s easy to use and is the next best thing to being together in real life.
The sessions start at 10.00am and finish at 1.00pm. We will open the Zoom room at 9.45am and there will be regular breaks. Each session includes some tuition, writing time, and time for sharing and discussion. As always, sharing is optional.
Bring your pen and notebook, your choice of hot beverage and sweet snack for the break, and enjoy a morning of writing in the company of our online community. We look forward to welcoming you into our Zoom room.
Urban worlds: strictly man-made – Sunday 27 September
Cities, towns, roads, railways, factories, great houses and humble kerbside dwellings – urban settings provide the background for many of the most compelling genres, from crime and thrillers to literary and contemporary fiction. Create urban spaces that can be the launch pad for powerful stories.
The natural world: keeping it rural – Sunday 25th October
Rural landscapes: whether we’re talking woodlands, mountains, coastlines, seascapes or deserts, or even the weather, this retreat will take you into those natural worlds and enable you to capture their essence, using descriptive and sensory language, and writing about them in ways that immerse the reader.
Fantasy worlds: anything goes – Sunday 29 November
This retreat takes you into new territory, somewhere you may have yet to imagine. A blend of the real and the fantastical, a world in which anything can happen. Learn how to make a fantasy world with its own rules and logic, somewhere in which nothing is the same and yet everything makes sense.
